🎃Tackle Holiday Clutter: Simple Steps to Organize Your Storage Areas!

Hi Reader,

I hope you’re doing well! In my neighborhood, we’re already seeing Halloween decorations popping up everywhere! 🎃 It’s such a fun time of year, but it also means the holiday season is just around the corner.

I don’t know about you, but every time I pull out those spooky decorations, I find myself wandering into the attic or storage areas, thinking, “Wow, I really need to clean this place out!” Sound familiar?

Let’s be honest—life gets busy, and it’s easy to let clutter pile up. But with the holidays approaching, now’s the perfect time to tackle those storage spaces. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, don’t worry! I’ve got some quick tips to help you declutter, even if you’re short on time.

Quick Decluttering Tips for Storage Areas

  1. Prepare: Have your supplies ready! Heavy duty trash bags for items that are broken and no longer work. Boxes for items to be donated and storage bins for items to keep!
  2. Use the 12-Month Rule: If you haven’t used or needed an item in the past year, consider letting it go. This rule helps you identify items that are just taking up space and can be donated or discarded, freeing up valuable storage.
  3. Label Everything: Once you’ve decluttered, take a few minutes to label bins and shelves. Labels make it easy to find what you need and encourage you to put things back in their designated spots, keeping your storage areas organized in the long run.
  4. Place seasonal items together: Storing items together by season will make it so much easier to locate these items in the future and actually use what you have!
  5. Saving the best for last...

Shelving Units!

Investing in good shelving can really change how your storage areas look and work. Think about the stores you visit—imagine if there were no shelves! Items would be piled on top of each other and spread all over the floor.

By setting up your storage space like a store, using shelves and grouping similar items together, you can create a neat and organized area:

✨ Use all the vertical space without stacking bins

✨ Keep the floor clear so you can see everything easily

✨ Make it simple to grab the items you need

No more digging through piles or searching for that one holiday decoration you know you have!

Remember, you don’t have to organize everything all at once. Take your time! Spend a few minutes on small tasks, and soon you'll have a space that feels clean and organized. You can do this, and I’m here cheering you on every step of the way!

Hi Reader, I hope this email finds you all in good spirits! As we are entering the last week of October, I wanted to share something personal that has been on my mind lately: unexpected health setbacks. Recently, I faced a little bump in the road that reminded me just how important it is to have a supportive home environment and family around us. When I had to take time to rest and focus on my recovery, I realized how much my organized home systems helped me. With everything in its place, I...

Boone North Carolina, what would you truly miss if everything were swept away

Hi Reader, I hope this email finds you all safe and well. In my beautiful state of North Carolina, this past week has been filled with news of devastation and destruction from Hurricane Helene. So many images of homes, nature, roads just that were gone in an instant. Having spent the majority of my life here (especially my college years at Appalachian State University in Boone) I’ve always cherished the mountains and the serenity they bring. Seeing these majestic places and the wonderful,...
